We adapted the colored "obi" system for our "kyu" ranking . This is an option for the students to wear their obi belt and also for safety reason. It would be a small indicator what level of "ukemi" a student would be able to do. Kanji kyu certificates are issued to practitioners who completed the requirements and satisfied all standards for the dojo's grading.

Minimum Practice Days for To Qualify for Ranking (Please be aware that these are not the only requirements)

Kids Ranking (8th-4th)

  •        9th kodomo kyu   ( 15 sessions ) approx 2 mos or more (striped red)
  •        8th kodomo kyu   ( 15 sessions ) approx 2 mos or more (stripped red)
  •        7th kodomo kyu   ( 20 sessions ) approx 3 mos or more (striped yellow)
  •        6th kodomo kyu   ( 20 sessions ) approx 3 mos or more (striped orange)
  •        5th kodomo kyu   ( 20 sessions ) approx 3 mos or more (striped green)
  •        4th kodomo kyu   ( 20 sessions ) approx 3 mos or more (stripped puple)
  •        3th kodomo kyu   ( 20 sessions ) approx 3 mos or more (stripped blue)
  •        2th kodomo kyu   ( 20 sessions ) approx 3 mos or more (stripped blue)
  •        1st kodomo kyu   ( 20 sessions ) approx 3 mos or more (stripped blue)

(Upon reaching 5th kyu ,up  and depending on the maturity of the student,
 He/She may be invited to attend the adult class for continued training )
